Academics

I attend the all-boys catholic high school, Chaminade College School. I will be graduating in the spring of 2020. The lessons learned from attending Chaminade are: strive for excellence in everything you do, follow your passion, and the importance/ value of brotherhood. Currently, I have an average of 92% and have been on the honour roll each year of high school, never earning a grade lower than 80%. I am enrolled in multiple math and science courses as I intend on pursuing them in the future.
Aspirations

I have been interested in the sciences as far back as I can remember. As a young child, I did everything I could to emulate a scientist and figure out the world; from categorizing different rocks I collected, stargazing, and reading books about robotics. I chose to pursue mechanical engineering because engineers solve problems using creative scientific solutions. It was an easy decision. As a mechanical engineer, I will get to help people by building and doing things I love. I hope to one day start my own company specialized in either mechatronics/ space travel. I would like to build and design new and advanced prosthetic limbs for amputees. My goal is to make these new prosthetics on par if not more advanced than our own human limbs. Space travel/ exploration is also, I believe, the future of humanity. Many solutions to problems we have on Earth can be solved by looking to the stars for answers. It is said, the first trillionaire will be the first person to mine the contents of an asteroid. This is definitely a growing industry to say the least, one I am eager to be a part of. I Plan on attending either the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, or Ryerson University to get my degree in mechanical engineering this coming fall. This will be the first step in achieving my greater goals.
Within the Chaminade community...
Throughout my time at Chaminade, I have been a member of the robotics team 2634, co-captain of the Reach for the Top team, and a member of the ultimate frisbee team. I have made many memories, from my time on the skiing and camping trips, as well as on the New York arts trip; an experience I will never forget. I will also never forget all the laughs, good times, and friends I have made. Although I spend a lot of time and energy on my studies, there is still room for some fun and adventure.
I was a member of the Chaminade Robotics team 2634 from grade 9 to grade 11. The team is made up of student members and staff/ alumni mentors. Every year, for the past 10 years, the team has competed in FIRST Robotics Competitions where we had to build a robot able to complete specific tasks. The robot would then compete against others in an arena. I was tasked with helping build the frame drive train along with helping with the electrical components.

I've loved to answer trivia questions and play knowledge-based games since I was very young. Learning has always been something I was interested in., I still remember playing with a map of Europe, where each puzzle piece was a different country. When I entered high school and found out that there exists a trivia team, I knew I had to join. I have been on the Reach For The Top team since grade 9 and co-captain since grade 10. This club has taught me leadership skills and has opened my mind to many interesting topics.
Ultimate Frisbee is a relatively new sport. It is a great sport to improve teamwork and communication skills as well as cardio, reflexes, and coordination. This year we qualified and competed in the first-ever OFSAA tournament for the sport. The year before, we placed 3rd at the TDCAA tournament. Ultimate frisbee is a unique sport as it is the only co-ed sport that is offered. There was a great sense of family and community on this team despite two groups of people unfamiliar with each other coming together. Everyone on the team became very close and we continue to communicate and go out regularly. I am very happy that I decided to join the team. I made many great memories on the team.

Chaminade College holds an annual three-day retreat at Camp Manitou for the incoming grade nines, lead by the senior students. In the 2018-2019 school year, I was a cabin leader; responsible for chaperoning a group of grade nine. This year I was a member of the "core team." We were responsible for organizing various aspects of the retreat and preparing for it. At Camp Manitou we were tasked with running different activities at the camp, monitoring the cabins, and running the legendary lipsync competition. Being on the core team improved my communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. My time being involved was valuable and fun. I am grateful for having been on the core team.
